Children’s author Kristin Arniotis headed to (95.7) BEN FM’s Woman of the Week to tape a segment of the radio show “Woman of the Week” with host Marilyn Russell. The popular show will air later in the month on a Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
Russell, a veteran broadcaster, was charmed by Kristin and her book, ‘I Have Autism…And That’s Okay.”
Arniotis spoke to Russell about finding the right “dream team” of doctors and therapists once your child is diagnosed with autism or has another special need, and seek out the resources the family needs. Being a child’s advocate is the key, she said.
Arniotis also spoke about acceptance, fierce and unconditional love for Billy and her other sons. “My goal has always been for him to be the best Billy that he can be. We need to teach our children early acceptance and that these behaviors that a child does has nothing to do with what’s inside the child. Overall, we need to be a more accepting community.”
